In fifty years Lemon Grove Lutheran Church has touched thousands through worship, teaching and caring. Our mission remains the same today as when LGLC formed in 1949.

Every member of the church is a minister, a part of the "priesthood of all believers." As a loving family of Christian believers, we continue the work of those who had a vision of mission for Lemon Grove; people in the synodical offices (ours is the Pacifica Synod) far away and Lutheran pioneers who moved to this place fifty years ago.

May God bless the ministers and ministry of Lemon Grove Lutheran venturing into the new millennium together.

From Pastor Laurie Line

What a busy four months it's been! Even though Easter was only 2 weeks early, it seemed much earlier. The church season of Easter will end on May 4 and then we will celebrate the birthday of the Christian church on May 11, Pentecost Sunday. Better yet, come to church that Sunday and celebrate in style! Tradition tells us to wear red in celebration of the coming of the Holy Spirit to the people as recalled in Acts 2. So get that favorite red outfit and let's see how festive we all look.

Also, on Pentecost Sunday, we will be confirming three of our young people-Kevyn Cavanaugh, Emily Hedges, and Austin Rushing. You have known these confirmands for much longer than I have, but I have appreciated working with them these past few months, sharing stories, and helping them craft their faith statements which they will share with us during the sermon time. They will also be serving communion that day. They are three very intelligent people who have wonderful thoughts and ideas. They are also pretty funny. I'm going to miss meeting with them each week!

Speaking of faith statements, have you ever thought about your faith statement? What do you know about God? How do you see God working in your life? Do you share those stories with your family? Your kids and grandkids, great-grandkids? If you aren't sharing your faith already, I encourage you to do so. Sharing our faith stories helps not only the one to whom you are sharing, but also yourself as well. We were created to be in relationship with God and each other. We need each other, especially during this time of change in our life as the congregation of Lemon Grove Lutheran.

Your faith stories are part of the history of this church. How has your faith changed in your time here? Can you see how your life is part of the rich tapestry of this congregation and all who have been a part of LGLC? Can you see how we are all a part of each other? With our new friends, Alicia and Elena the tapestry of our lives is going to grow. Keep them in your prayers and get to know them and their families. I'm so excited to see how their threads are going to enrich our tapestry and our ministry here in Lemon Grove. There may be some things you aren't going to be comfortable with; but, I promise you, we will all be blessed beyond our wildest dreams by Elena's and Alicia's addition to our church.
